Polestar’s Family Campout convenes each summer on the Big Island for three incredible days and nights in the pristine beauty of Ho’okena Beach. 2011 was another unforgettable experience for all of us. 
The dolphins attended again this year, arriving as if on cue to provide their amazing display of acrobatic grace and wonder. Volleyball was non-stop with many new recruits catching "the bug" and an ever ascending level of competition and fun. “Portuguese Horshoes” made their debut this year and were a big hit for all ages. Music is always a highlight and this year was no exception with hours of campfire singing, improvisation and fun, culminating in the side-splitting hilarity of the annual “no talent show”!
Great company, food, snorkeling, kayaking, and jewelry making made this a memorable time for all. We expect a full house for 2012, so please sign up early.

Cost
Most of us arrive Friday afternoon and leave Monday, mid-morning. The cost includes 8 meals within this time, as well as all camping fees. We bring our facilities, setting up a volleyball net, a communal shade tent, and an impressive outdoor kitchen. Families help us prepare and clean up meals, which are prepared on-site, in our outdoor kitchen.
Limited work-exchange opportunities are available for those families with extreme need.
